Elena Maurina earned her Master’s Degree in Chemistry (cum laude) in 2021 and her diploma in Chemistry from the Scuola Normale Superiore in 2022.
In June 2025, she completed her PhD in Information Engineering at the University of Pisa under the supervision of Prof. Giuseppe Barillaro. Her doctoral research centered on the fabrication, functionalisation, and testing of chemical sensors for biomedical applications.
Elena is currently a Postdoctoral researcher in the group of Virgilio Mattoli at the Center for Materials Interfaces (CMI) of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT). She is involved in the EU EIC project IV-Lab and EU EIC SMARTHEAL project, focusing on one- and two-photon lithography, sensor integration and (selective) coating/etching processes.
Her research interests include characterisation techniques, micro- and nano-fabrication technologies, sensors and functional materials.
